Athletics > Coaches Responsibilities

  • All Guido Sports teams are coached or managed by Guido teachers.
  • At all times each coach is expected to act in a Christian manner. This includes behaviour at practices, games, and tournaments.
  • Each coach will run a tryout session for his/her team.
  • Attend the pre-season coaches meeting for your sport.
  • Arrange transportation for your team to any game if your team is the only team travelling
    (See Transportation Policy)
  • Acquaint yourself with all SOSSA and OFSAA regulations governing your sport
  • Prior to final cuts, circulate  a list of potential student participants to all staff members
  • Provide a parental information letter
  • Collect the information/permission forms; maintain this information for all practices and games
  • Collect the player fees and submit to the sports coordinator (Michael Noot) before the official season begins
  • Fax and mail student eligibility list forms to the ZONE I convenor and give one copy to the sports coordinator
  • Phone in game scores to the ZONE I convenor immediately after the game (905) 527-5092 ext. 2900
  • Review and enforce expectations for student participation, ie. Attitude, practice attendance, smoking, dress
  • Distribute Uniforms after collecting the uniform fee and collect these uniforms at the end of the season.
  • Consult the principal for all exhibition games and tournaments
  • Organise referees and transportation for exhibition games
  • Consult the principal for all student drivers
  • Gym preparation and clean-up for games and tournaments
  • Contact the sports coordinator and the ZONE I convenor regarding schedule changes, standings, playoffs, etc.
