Guido de Brès Eligibility Policies

·          prior to the start of the season, the coach will circulate a list of potential student participants to all staff members.  Eligibility could be affected by classroom attendance, inappropriate behaviour, and poor academic performance.

·          once a student has been allowed to be a member of a school team, a classroom teacher who has a concern about the student not keeping up with his/her work may contact the coach and/or parent to ensure that corrective action is taken by the student.

·          the principal may suspend a player from participation for severe discipline reasons or if the student is not receiving a passing grade in all courses during the season in question.

SOSSA Zone I Eligibility / Course Load Requirements

·          For the first four years of high school, in a semestered school, a student must be registered in a minimum of three full day school credit courses, in the semester in which the student participates.

·          In the fifth year of high school, a student must be taking, in a semestered school, two full day school credit courses per semester.

·          A student who is his/her sixth year of school is ineligible.  A student will be eligible for no more than five consecutive calendar years from the date of entry into grade 9.  A student who is ineligible may appeal the five-year-rule at OFSAA.

has not reached his/her 19th birthday by January 1st prior to the start of the school year.

Junior

has not reached his/her 15th birthday by January 1st prior to the start of the school year.

Midget

has not reached his/her 14th birthday by January 1st prior to the start of the school year.

Age & Grade Eligibility Classification for Team Sports (Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer)

Senior

has not reached his/her 19th birthday by January 1st prior to the start of the school year.

Junior

has not reached his/her 15th birthday by January 1st prior to the start of the school year and is in grade 9 or 10.

Midget

has not reached his/her 14th birthday by January 1st prior to the start of the school year.
